Gordo's Taqueria

NASHVILLE, TN

Gordo's Taqueria has built a strong community of burrito lovers in the Bay Area. This Nashville location will be the first outside of California; however, they are cognizant of the different patrons they will be serving. With a new state comes a new concept! While still focused on serving the hardworking locals of the area, they are introducing a sister brand - Gordo’s Taqueria. The design team was tasked with transforming the 2,000-sf space into a more modern version of their current concept. The goal is to maintain a homey vibe while updating to more modern finishes and becoming the go-to lunch spot in the Wedgewood Houston area.

Constrained by the 24’ width of the space, the design team worked closely with the owner to establish an ideal flow of the space. Including two entry doors allowed for the space to create a “U” shaped flow of patrons to the service counter, which establishes the kitchen and back of house space. To emphasize this boundary, and to guide patrons to the service line, we designed a “floating” signage wall above the counter. The hues and materials at the other Gordo locations inspired the warm-toned, rough, brick and wood menu boards. Green wall tiles, neutral flooring, and warm whites were selected to compliment the brick and emphasize the warm environment.

The interior dining space is encapsulated by the “U” circulation and connects to the covered patio space with an overhead, glass door. The covered and uncovered patio spaces provide ample seating space year-round.
