HI-WIRE BREWING
NASHVILLE, TN
Hi-Wire Brewing is known throughout the southeast for their colorful taprooms filled with murals, indoor games, and of course, beer. Their newest location in Nashville’s Gulch features a large outdoor patio that wraps the corner of 9th Avenue and Division Street. Inside is a cavernous 5,600 sf space with 23’ high ceilings. While this space follows the Hi-Wire theme, it was am especially tall volume of space from floor to ceiling. The design team was tasked to create an element that could be spatial, colorful, acoustical, and cost-efficient.
The existing space was interrupted by irregular concrete columns much like tree trunks in the forest. After trying many acoustical canopy options that fell out of budget, a solution came from outside the box. Foam pool noodles were designed to hang on tracks surrounding each of the taproom’s columns in blooming growths, simulating Asheville’s outdoors into an indoor beer garden. This achieved the targeted look and feel while coming in at less than half the budget of the other acoustic options.
The taproom below seats more than 200 people in colorful chairs while still maintaining generous space for games like ping pong, shuffleboard, and foosball. Hi-Wire’s signature bar and menu boards are anchored at the rear of the space. An extra-large roll up door opens the taproom up to the surrounding patio space.
