If you’re familiar with Comma Designworks then you’ve probably heard about CJ. He first came to us as a 5th year Architecture student from the University of Tennessee – Knoxville. He spent last summer learning and growing with us. During this period, he was able to get some hands-on experience working on a variety of projects. CJ showed great promise and later joined our team at the start of this year.

Born in Atlanta, GA, CJ’s family moved to the suburbs of Nashville where he ended up being raised. He grew up primarily in Franklin, Tennessee where he first discovered his curiosity in architecture and design. While being raised in the suburbs, CJ was constantly exploring and experiencing Nashville as it rapidly increased in size and population

From a young age, CJ always knew he was drawn to design. As a child his curiosity for architecture started while helping build and construct little cardboard houses for his stuffed animals. He loved the process and the creativity problem-solving that it required. As he grew, his fascination in architecture developed further as he established an interest in tech and gaming. He started playing video games with city-scapes and building simulations that eventually led him to pursing Architecture. It wasn’t a direct path though; he initially pursued a degree in Computer Engineering due to his hobby in new technology. After much debate, he switched his major to Architecture and Design so he could follow his passion rather than a hobby.

Outside of work, CJ enjoys a good game of basketball or anything sports related. He also loves spending time with his friends and messing around with the latest tech gadget he can get his hands on! You can also find him enjoying a game of golf with his family.

We are thrilled to have CJ as an integral part of our team and are excited to watch him continue to grow both personally and professionally in his role as an Architectural Designer. He consistently seeks to deepen his understanding of design, construction, and the architectural process, approaching every challenge with enthusiasm and a strong work ethic.
